How to make a pair of jeans step by step

At Bustins Jeans, as a brand of slow fashionwe make our denim garments by hand in our workshop. That's why, in today's post, we wanted to explain in pictures the steps to make a pair of jeans in this way.

Pattern making and cutting

The first step in making a pair of jeans is to design the pattern we will follow for the cut.

We choose the fabric with which to make the garment and prepare the pattern to cut it according to the design. The fabric is cut with a radial blade machine, which guarantees a sharper finish than a pair of scissors.

Sew the piece

Once the different parts of the garment have been cut, it is time to "assemble" and sew them together.

Each part of the trousers is overcast, i.e. they are stitched so that they do not fray.

Once this is done, the overlocked parts are sewn together with the help of a sewing machine.

The next step, with the parts already joined together, is to make the stitching, which are decorative elements.

The trouser zip is overlocked and mounted, and double-stitched with different machines.

The pockets are assembled and overlocked. Then, to close them, we use a machine called an overlock.

The pieces of the trousers continue to be joined together, including the legs and the back of the trousers.

We place the labels of Bustins Jeans and the size of the trousers.

We make the buttonholes, place the buttons and rivets (the decorative metal parts of the trousers).

Afterwards, we place the belt loops (which were previously sewn).

We sew the Bustins leather label.

The trouser bottoms are reworked.

The result of this process is denim in "raw" fabric. It must therefore be washed and ironed to give it its final colour and texture.
